Subterranean Groove Theory (SGT) formed early in 2011 as a streamlined rock/blues/reggae trio. It all Started when Mike became interested in learning the bass. The boredom of the winter months and TV lead him to seek new outlets. Nick started to show him some simple songs on the bass. When Tom noticed that Mike was serious about the idea of being a musician, he offered to teach him the little bit he knows about music theory and some simple technique. The three started learning songs together and jammin in the basement soon became their favorite pastime. They would spend almost every evening in the basement learning and practicing songs and expanding their catalog of music.
As things progressed, they started to entertain the idea of making this pastime of theirs into a serious working band. There was a lot of positive feedback from their friends encouraging them to work toward playing out. The trio started to compile a song list that they felt would both set them apart from your average cover band and leave the crowds they played for wanting more. They officially started Subterranean Groove Theory... although settling on a name didn't happen for a while.
SGT's goal is to have fun making music, and you can feel it when they play. Their genuine excitement and passion for what they do definitely adds to the performance and they are guaranteed to entertain any audience.
